FrieslandCampina Domo has over 40 years of technical expertise in the manufacturing of protein hydrolysates. It has state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities, pilot plants, analytical laboratories and R&D facilities in the US and Europe. We are ready to share our knowledge and provide you, our customer, with the solutions you need.
Strong and rich legacy
The production of protein hydrolysates started with Deltown Chemurgic. Deltown Chemurgic in the 1970’s was one of the pioneers in the development of peptones for use in microbial diagnostic products. The first important biopharmaceutical applications followed in the 1990’s. The company name changed to Deltown Specialties to better reflect the special and unique properties of the product lines, which at that time also included infant nutrition hydrolysates. Deltown Specialties was purchased in the early 1990’s by DMV International Nutritionals. This was accompanied by investments both in equipment and people. Over the years the plant transformed into a state-of-the-art protein hydrolysate manufacturing unit.
In the mid 1990’s the Biopharmaceutical industry started looking for ingredients that could replace fetal calf serum in Cell Culture applications. With the manufacturing facility meeting the basic industry requirements for media ingredients, DMV International Nutritionals again pioneered the development of a full range of non animal origin hydrolysates for use in biopharmaceutical media applications.
Shaping the future
In 2009 our name changed to FrieslandCampina Domo as a result of a merger. This rich history is well preserved and the plant remains at the same location. With renewed investments and a second manufacturing site in Europe, the labor base is extended and further strengthened, and continued improvement focused on quality and safety. Therefore, we can state that FrieslandCampina Domo has over 40 years of technical expertise in the development and manufacture of protein hydrolysates.
